When shooting Rock's latest collection, we wanted to find a location that echoed the philosophies and ambitions of Rock Luggage. As a London brand, we’re always keen to shoot in our home city, with the gorgeous Primrose Hill and ever-popular Carnaby Street as our 2022 shoot locations. In late May ‘23, we found ourselves in Chiswick, a leafy village-like district of London, hosted by the wonderful and truly welcoming ‘hometel’ Room2.
Room2 not only has beautiful location to shoot, with terrifically styled rooms and interesting common areas – from courtyard to coffee bar, it also has the distinction of being a ‘whole life net zero’ space, committing to 100% of their carbon emissions being rebalanced to zero (they are the first hotel to do this!). The building is inspired by the Arts & Crafts movement, and Room2 celebrates local artists and makers as part of the business, prioritising doing better alongside their aims to provide you with a great place to lay your head.
As we have recently launched our first range of planet positive cases – Rocklite and Rocklite DLX – finding a location where we can continue on our journey to doing better was the right thing to do. We also got some pretty nice shots!
We’re giving you a sneak peak of our new lines (coming this summer) so that we can tell the story of our day with Room2. Like anyone planning a big day, we had our fingers crossed for good weather and we were lucky to have bright, blue skies all day, so we had great light both inside and out – particularly as Room2 have picture perfect windows that we did our best to feature as often as possible.
We started shooting our lovely model, Lorna, in the perfectly-pink Lounge room – showcasing our new limited edition Vintage colours – due later this year. We think they’ll work for every traveller but can see them being a gorgeous addition to anyone’s honeymoon.
Moving to the coffee bar and workspace, our new range, Pixel, was peeking through the plants as Lorna ordered a coffee (Room2 has a gratifying amount of foliage inside and out). Meanwhile, our photographer Oli grabbed a great shot of new line Lisbon. We can also really recommend grabbing a Room2 coffee even if you’re not staying the night.
Rock’s community manager Alice found amazing spots to grab some behind the scenes shots. Rock are no stranger to colour, and we loved Room2’s feel for pattern and colour, from the laundry room to the lift.
Finally, we headed outside. Room2 is ideally positioned just off the Chiswick High Road, with its vibrant shops and restaurants, and a leafy park and a traditional terrace of Victoria houses to the rear. After a little story-telling along the terrace, Lorna positioned herself next to a classic car, showcasing our take on Lisbon’s travelling style.
Room2 has a range of rooms for every traveller’s needs. All rooms are styled with bespoke handcrafted items from a range of local designers and craftsmen that are carefully considered. Sustainability is woven through every decision Room2 make. They generate renewable power from geothermal below the ground and above from the sun. They are also single use plastic free, zero waste to landfill, ultra energy efficient, and even make their own honey on the roof. Room2 are also pet friendly!
Producing a shoot relies on a lot of moving parts and but we can honestly say that the Room2 team were the nicest and most supportive bunch of people we’ve worked with and we would go back in a heartbeat. Check out Room2 here, and look out for Rock’s new lines arriving very soon.
